The idea, that all Clubs
post their contact information on the BB, which was (proposed
by both charter and shotgun), seems to have been a good one.
As of this date, three Clubs; The Homan Sq. Pool Checkers and
Chess Club of Chicago, the Piedmont Pool Checker Assoc, and
the Capital Pool Checker Association have all bought into the
idea by sending in their information. One can simply click, Checkers Clubs on the BB to get that info.
Hopefully, more clubs will do the same. This will, thereby
insure that all will know where to go when visiting a new city
and desiring a good game. Continue the great work
fellows. _________________ Charles Thompson

Actually none of the clubs
sent in anything - I got Chicago's club address from your
postings, and the other two were sent by Shotgun. I repeat -
nothing is forthcoming from the clubs. Several people on Vog
that I talked to did not respond to the the request.
One of the suggestions that Shotgun received was to
look at the back of the annual booklet. That is a bad idea
on two fronts - first, many of the clubs listed there do not
exist anymore, or moved - we do not want to send people to
wrong addresses! Second - the request was to members - do
not send us to other places! it is members responsibility to
respond, to keep making sure ALL the information, including
email address, contact, address, phone is ALWAYS current!
It is bewildering to me why they do not respond when
given such an opportunity to advertise their club! Don't they
want more members? How does a checker player living in their
city is to find out where the checker club is? There is
nothing in the phone book, is it? It took me 5 years to find
checkers club in Los Angeles - how do I wish there was an ad
like this!
And think of the hundreds of youngsters
looking for a checkers club near home - not finding it nearby
they just switch their interest to some other game. We keep
moaning "no new players" - but refuse to advertise, even when
it is free! And the only place youngsters would look is
internet - so do not wait - advertise! Even if your place is
"under the big tree" - tell the world!
